The current coffee reward choices are not one interchangeable tier. McDonald's lists a small Premium Roast Coffee for 1,500 points, a large Iced Coffee for 3,500 points, and a large Frappé for 5,000 points. It separately lists $3 off an order of $3 or more for 4,000 points. The selected restaurant's app is the final check for which drink, size, flavor, and discount terms are available.
Members earn 100 points for each eligible dollar actually paid. At that base rate, 1,500 points require $15 of eligible spending, 3,500 require $35, 4,000 require $40, and 5,000 require $50 before bonus offers. Points are not cash, and spending history does not prove that a particular redemption saves more than the drink's local price.
McDonald's says the limited-time Caramel Apple Pie flavor is available as a Frappé, Iced Coffee, and Latte at participating restaurants. Buying an eligible seasonal drink while the account is identified can earn points, but the public reward page does not promise that every seasonal flavor can be selected as the 3,500-point Iced Coffee or 5,000-point Frappé reward. Select the restaurant and inspect the reward item in the app before ordering.
Compare the local menu price with the point tier. If an eligible drink costs less than $3, the 4,000-point discount can waste part of its stated value because the order must be at least $3. If a large eligible Frappé costs only a little more than $3, the 4,000-point discount may use fewer points than the 5,000-point free-item tier but still leave a balance due. Taxes, fees, customizations, and delivery charges can change the result.
To redeem, sign in to the McDonald's app, select the restaurant, open Rewards & Deals, choose the listed coffee reward or $3 discount, and use Add to Mobile Order or Use at Restaurant. Only one reward can be redeemed per order, so two free drinks generally require two eligible orders under the current rule.
A reward and paid items can be in the same order. McDonald's awards 100 points per eligible dollar actually spent on the paid portion, but taxes, bag or bottle fees, other surcharges, money loaded onto an Arch Card, and McDonald's app delivery fees do not earn points.
For counter, kiosk, or Drive Thru purchases, provide the four-digit code before ordering. Orders placed while signed in to the app earn automatically when the restaurant and purchased items qualify. For delivery, rewards work only when the order is placed through the McDonald's app, not through a third-party service such as DoorDash or Uber Eats; delivery prices and fees can be higher.
If points do not appear, wait 24 hours and keep the receipt. Then use More and Add Missing Points from Receipt or contact McDonald's through the app with the account email and order details. Points expire on the first day of the month after six months from the date earned, so check the balance and expiration dates before saving for a higher tier.
McDonald's currently displays notice of revised online-service and Rewards terms taking effect August 24, 2026. Recheck the official terms and the app after that date because partner rewards, ordering, cancellation, refund, and stored-value provisions may change even if the public coffee tiers remain displayed.
