Requirements
The participant must be accepted by a funded project, generally be age 19 or older unless a younger person cannot appropriately be served by another TRIO program, and need project services to pursue postsecondary education. At least two-thirds of each project's participants must be low-income and potential first-generation college students; federal student-aid citizenship or residency and local service-area and priority rules apply.
How to activate
Use the federal TRIO program resources or ask a nearby college, workforce agency, or community organization to find the serving Educational Opportunity Center, then contact the project directly and complete its participant intake and eligibility documentation.
Cost basis
No-cost access. The core benefit has no required payment, purchase, deposit, paid membership, or pre-existing paid-product relationship under the captured terms.
Cost and fees
Federally funded project services are free to participants, but local project capacity and service areas are limited. College applications, tests, transcripts, tuition, transportation, and other outside costs remain unless separately waived or covered, and participation does not guarantee admission or financial aid.
