What it unlocks
Repayable financing for eligible uninsured or underinsured losses, including repair or replacement of a primary home and personal property, business physical damage, small-business economic injury, and approved mitigation measures that reduce future damage.
Who qualifies
Homeowner or renter with eligible disaster-damaged property; Business of any size or private nonprofit with eligible physical damage; Qualifying small entity with disaster-caused economic injury
Requirements
The applicant and damaged property or economic injury must fall within an eligible SBA disaster declaration and loan type, the loss cannot be fully covered by insurance or other recovery funds, and the applicant must submit by the declaration-specific deadline and show identity, eligible ownership or tenancy, satisfactory credit and ability to repay under SBA underwriting. Secondary homes generally do not qualify as home loans.
How to activate
Find the current declaration and deadline, apply in the MySBA Loan Portal or at an SBA recovery location, authorize credit review, and submit insurance, ownership or lease, income, tax, loss, and repair information. Review the approved use, collateral, interest, deferment, and repayment terms before accepting any loan.
Cost basis
Discounted access. The user pays a reduced price rather than receiving the core benefit at no charge.
Cost and fees
This is a loan, not free money: principal and interest must be repaid. Rates, maximums, collateral, maturity, deadlines, deferment, and eligible uses vary by declaration, borrower, and loan type. SBA generally covers only verified losses not paid by insurance or another source, and approval or a requested amount is not guaranteed.
