Requirements
Beginning in 2026, the free-entrance-day waiver applies to U.S. citizens and residents; a park may request proof under its current procedures. Visitors must still meet park-specific hours, access, safety, vehicle, permit, and reservation requirements.
How to activate
Confirm the date on the NPS passes page, open the destination park's official site, and check timed-entry, road, weather, parking, shuttle, and reservation rules before traveling. Bring any requested proof of citizenship or residency.
Cost basis
No-cost access. The core benefit has no required payment, purchase, deposit, paid membership, or pre-existing paid-product relationship under the captured terms.
Cost and fees
Only the entrance fee is waived. Timed-entry or reservation fees, camping, tours, permits, parking, shuttles, ferries, concessions, and other amenities can still cost money. Nonresidents do not receive the 2026 fee-free-day waiver and may owe regular and applicable nonresident fees.
