What it unlocks
Free and confidential information and complaint intake, assessment of whether an investigation is appropriate, private worker interviews and record review when investigated, and possible recovery of back wages or other corrective action for substantiated violations.
Who qualifies
Current or former worker reporting a possible federal wage or hour violation; Third party reporting possible violations affecting workers
Requirements
The concern must fall within or potentially relate to a law enforced by the division. Useful information includes the employer and worksite, manager, work performed, dates, hours, pay method and rate, and any records, but workers should still contact the division if information is incomplete. Services are available regardless of immigration status.
How to activate
Call 1-866-487-9243 or contact the nearest Wage and Hour office, explain the employer, work, pay or protected-leave problem, provide available records, and file as soon as possible because recovery periods and legal deadlines can expire.
Cost basis
No-cost access. The core benefit has no required payment, purchase, deposit, paid membership, or pre-existing paid-product relationship under the captured terms.
Cost and fees
Division services are free and complaints are confidential subject to narrow legal exceptions. The agency decides whether and how to investigate, cannot guarantee recovery, and does not replace private legal advice. Federal law prohibits retaliation for protected complaints or cooperation, but workers should promptly report any retaliation.
