Who qualifies
Current or former foster youth eligible for a Chafee Education and Training Voucher
Requirements
The applicant must meet the administering state or Tribe's current foster-care history, age, residency, school, satisfactory-progress, financial-aid, deadline, and documentation rules. Federal and local rules limit awards to cost of attendance, prevent duplication of other aid, and cap the years and age through which support can continue.
How to activate
Use the official child-welfare state contact directory to find the Education and Training Voucher coordinator, review local deadlines, file the FAFSA when required, submit the ETV application and foster-care and enrollment documents, and renew as directed each year.
Cost basis
No-cost access. The core benefit has no required payment, purchase, deposit, paid membership, or pre-existing paid-product relationship under the captured terms.
Cost and fees
There is no fee to apply. Awards depend on eligibility, appropriation, state or Tribal rules, cost of attendance, other aid, and available funds; the voucher may not cover the full cost of school or living expenses.
Geography
